"This quest for my grandmother touches on many universal themes, such as the destructive power of family secrets and the profound consequences that certain life choices can have, in the post-World War II era. It also brings to light very recent themes, such as the ethical implications of modern technologies like DNA research with regard to the right to privacy. How far should we go in the search for truth?"
