Between 2015 and 2024, Leonard Alecu filmed the melting glaciers off the east coast of Greenland. This film captures the moving drama of the ice that still images could not capture. The film's hypnotic quality is heightened by the soundtrack Become Ocean (2015 Grammy for Best Classical Contemporary Composition), a haunting composition by John Luther Adams, evoking the melting polar glaciers and rising sea levels. More than an ecological statement about the climate, it's a black-and-white visual meditation on solitude and our place in an ephemeral world.
