Teyyam of Gods, Heroes and Ancestors, part 1

a documentary by Patrick Morell, 74′

Cultic and ritualistic arts have always exerted a great influence on social life in India, especially Kerala, the home of a diverse range of performing traditions. Prominent, among these, is the ritualistic art form of Teyyam. During two months of the year, regardless of caste, social function, income, gender and age, devotees attend Teyyam rituals to seek blessings, ward off evil spirits, cure disease, have a healthy child-birth, settle disputes, and gain advice and prosperity from the Gods.

Herbert. A Barbarian in the Garden

a documentary by Rafael Lewandowski, 90′ introduced by KINGA SIATKOWSKA-CALLEBAT and RAFAEL LEWANDOWSKI

The first film dedicated to the Polish poet Zbigniew Herbert, one of the major humanist figures of the 20th century. Since the publication of his first collection, Rope of Light, in 1956, he became one of the most appreciated poets in Europe. His work, which draws on the heritage of ancient civilizations to highlight the bonds of a common European identity, played a colossal role in awakening the minds of Eastern and Western Europe, which the Iron Curtain separated.
